A Tornado Hit Baxter Springs on Sunday April 27th.  Many homes and businesses were destroyed.  We have set up a shelter at Trinity Worship Center located at 225 E 16th, Baxter Springs.  We are preparing food for those in need.  Prayers and support for the victims is needed.  For those wanting to donate money to help you can either donate here or mail a check to: Word in Action Ministries PO Box 383 Baxter Springs, KS 66713

Wed. (29th)  70 students and 5 teachers coming  to Trinity Worship to do landscaping, as well as cleaning and  organizing food pantries and storage for Word in Action Ministries.  These students are all part of a Character Ed. class under the helm of  Becky McDonald.

Money has been donated for Word in Action to cut concrete for the Transitional Housing's water lines. This construction project is expected to begin mid-Feb. If you'd like to be part of this project, call 620-202-1908.
Also coming in mid-February is a fundraising "Power of 10" campaign to raise the funds to continue the construction of our Resource Center/Transitional Housing. Our goal is to build a minimum of 4 or 5 housing units to get started. The property was purchased in July '12 and to date, the only money for this project has been that of cutting the concrete. This is a great need in the Baxter Springs community.
More information will be coming soon about this. In the meanwhile think whether or not you're able to give $10 because that is all we'll be asking for. Thanks a bunch.
Youth from Hays, Kansas and from Carl Junction, MO will be arriving March 15th to work construction as their Spring Break project. This will be the first year for Carl Junction but the third for the Hays youth. We're looking forward to working with them.
